02/Buying stale meat

The most common mistake that people commit is buying stale meat. The right meat should not have any foul odour. If you want a juicy patty of the burger then what matters is that you use a cut with a nice amount of fat. A nice amount of at least 15 percent to 20 percent fat will make for a juicier patty. So, the next time you go to buy meat, make sure to buy fresh meat.

03/Searing meat from the fridge

Never put your meat directly onto the grill after grabbing it from the fridge. Always allow the patty to come at the room temperature and then start grilling.

04/Patties that are too thick

Resist the urge to form giant packs of meat and instead, look to practice your form. To make the most evenly-cooked burgers on the block, grab a scant handful of your burger mixture and gently slap and pat it until it’s flat.

There’s nothing worse than taking your first bite and realizing it’s all bread and no meat. To remedy that, make sure your burger is 6 to 8 ounces, and that it’s wide enough to reach the outer edges of the bun.

09/Cooking too many things at once

It is important that you do not place everything at one go on the grill, as this will make it over-crowded, which can hamper the taste as well as the flavour of your burger. This way you’ll also avoid cross-contamination and make sure everything is cooked to perfection.

10/Not letting the burger rest

Don’t serve your burgers immediately after they’re hot off the grill. Let them sit for 5-7 minutes so the juices redistribute inside the steak.
